We are a community organisation with a vision and a social conscious where financial profit is transformed into social capital.
Our Purpose
Glasgow is home to a diverse population with many areas of the city identified as having high levels of deprivation. Issues such as food insecurity, social isolation and lack of opportunities can have a lasting impact on families.
At Well-Fed we are committed to building a strong community by providing employment, development opportunities, and healthy meals for anyone in need.
Our History
Well-Fed was established in 2017 to reuse surplus food to support local people. Our home for the first 3 years was in the Whiteinch Centre where we also operated a community café 7 days a week.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, our kitchen produced thousands of meals every day to feed people in need across Glasgow. Our service was a lifeline to struggling households and was often the only connection they had during such a challenging time.
In 2020 we moved to a 10,000sqft space on South Street which we renovated from an empty warehouse to a dedicated social, catering and restaurant space called The Unit.
The Unit operates as a community space Monday – Thursday with free classes, events and clubs for the local community. On Friday – Sunday we are a relaxed, family restaurant and event space with play areas for children of all ages.
We work in partnership with our community to offer the services that are integral to our truly community led organisation.
